Independent documentary The Sum of Our Parts follows a tender New York couple at a crossroads. Clothes dealers Roseanne and Kelly love each other unflinchingly: she nurses him through gender affirmation surgeries, and he bolsters her against reverberations of child sexual abuse. But when the surgeries lag, and Roseanne is upended by the chance for retribution, they must learn to forge new paths—together.
