The Sum of Our Parts Story

Kelly and Roseanne met in a cycling class in 2012. It was love at first pedal. Over a decade into their relationship, The Sum of Our Parts is an independent documentary that follows the couple at a crossroads.

Kelly is a transgender man who gets a critical opportunity to undergo gender affirmation surgery—a decision that creates unexpected tension in their relationship.

When New York State enacted the Child Victims Act (CVA), temporarily allowing adult survivors of child sexual abuse to take legal action, Roseanne’s support is tested, as her attention is pulled between the past and the present.

Frustrated with emotional volatility, Roseanne begins home video diaries in hopes of seeing herself more graciously.

Through intimate access to their most vulnerable moments, the film examines universal questions about healing within relationships, illuminating how love can endure—and even deepen—when personal growth seems to pull partners in opposing directions.

This independent documentary project explores what we need to heal, both as individuals and in community.

Thank you for being on the journey with me. We’d love to connect.
